أُحضر الشاي للمرة الأولى إلى الهند من خلال الصين في منتصف القرن 19 ، وتأسست أول شركة لتجارة الشاي مع انكلترا ، والهند بحلول عام 1900 أصبح واحداً من الموردين الرئيسيين للشاي في السوق الدولية ، اليوم الهند تعتبر ثاني منتج للشاي بعد الصين

يتميز االشاي الهندي بمذاقة الغني ، فهو من أشهر المشروبات في العالم وأمتعها ، للشاي أشكال ومذاقات مختلفه تتلون أقداح الشاي على الموائد ، فهو مشروباً لذيذاً منعشاً لا يتطلب إعداده أكثر من ثلاث لخمس دقائق ،
